The ceremony was attended by Mr Miodrag Vuković, Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants, Mr Branislav Mićunović, Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of Serbia, a great number of member of this association, representatives of local self-governments, provincial and republic bodies, representatives of other national councils and a great number of people from cultural and public life of Vojvodina.
At the ceremony, one-year work of the National Council, as an umbrella organisation of national Montenegrins in Serbia, was deemed as successful. Its further activities have been also agreed. The support was expressed by President of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina Mr Bojan Pajtić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Mr Ivan Bošnjak, President of the Coordination of National Councils Ms Ana Tomanova-Makanova and many others.
The National Council is an institution gathering all associations of Montenegrins in Serbia, which, in addition to the rights guaranteed to all citizens of the Republic of Serbia, also exercises additional collective rights, and particularly the right of members of Montenegrin national minority to - independently or through their representatives - participate in decision-making processes or decide by themselves on certain issues related to their national, cultural, language and educational identity.
