Kosovo – Montenegrin Friendship Forum “Radovan Zogović” was organised with the aim of confirming good relations and encouraging future cooperation of the two countries.
The Forum was organised by the Association of Montenegrins of Kosovo and initiative was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport of Kosovo, Ministry of Culture of Montenegro, British Council and Open Society Foundation of Kosovo.
During the first day of the Forum, MPs of the Parliament of Montenegro took part within the panel discussion on the topic: ”Cross-Border Cooperation in the Context of European Integration and Good Neighbourly Relations”. The importance of cross-border cooperation, as a crucial element for the integration process to the European Union and its strengthening in all areas, was emphasised.
During the second day, the major topic was “Minorities as a Bridge between the Two Countries”, when it was specially emphasised that Montenegrins living in Kosovo and Albanians living in Montenegro represented friendship connection between the two countries and two nations, thus they could significantly contribute to good neighbourly relations of the two countries and in the same time to acceleration of European integration of Montenegro and Kosovo.
In addition, the Forum Programme included cultural events, so the MPs of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants attended the opening of exhibition “Empathy – Montenegrin Contemporary Art”.
It was concluded that the Forum “Radovan Zogović” represented a good opportunity for further promotion of the status of Montenegrin minority in Kosovo and work of Radovan Zogović, as well as promotion of cultural, economic and overall cooperation between Montenegro and Kosovo.
