Members of the Committee on Political System, Judiciary and Administration participated at the meeting organised by GIZ (German Organisation for International Cooperation).
The goal of the meeting was a presentation of the potential Open Regional Fund for South East Europe – “Legal reform” project, for the purpose of establishing permanent regional network of judiciary institutions.
GIZ representative Dr Thomas Meyer spoke on the mentioned project, pointing out that the project was funded by the German Government with the aim of providing help to partner countries in their efforts related to legislative reforms of the judiciary through regional cooperation. In addition, he pointed out that they cooperate closely with the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), which developed "Strategy SEE2020", relying on the newly established "European Union 2020 Growth Strategy”.
Mr Meyer emphasised that the reform of the judiciary was essential for every potential candidate country aspiring to join the EU, and in that context, it was necessary to achieve regional cooperation, networking between ministries of justice, judicial and prosecutorial councils and parliaments as well, so the discussion in the fields of their joint activities to be enabled.
Draft memorandum on future cooperation was prepared at the preliminary meeting as well as the objectives to be achieved, both at national and at regional level, as well as the possible structure of the network.
In addition to Montenegrin representatives, the meeting was also attended by representatives of ministries of justice, judicial and prosecutorial councils and parliaments from regional countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia.
The meeting was attended by the Committee on Political System, Judiciary and Administration representatives – Deputy Chairperson Ms Snežana Jonica and Committee member Mr Husnija Šabović.
