Chairwoman of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ms Branka Tanasijević, met today with the Head of the UNICEF Office to Montenegro, Mr Benjamin Perks, on the subject of the participation of the Committee at the forthcoming conference on "Quality Education for better schools, better student achievement and the future", to be held in Podgorica in the period 8-10 July 2014. The conference is organized by the UNICEF Office to Montenegro and the Ministry of Education to encourage education reform on three important issues:
- extension of pre-school education in order to increase the percentage of children who attend the school up to 95%
- improving the learning environment, improving the quality of education, student achievements, as well as identical opportunities for all students;
- implementation of pilot projects according to the examples of countries in which pupils show good results in testing, which would later be fully implemented in the education system.
The conference pays attention to innovation and their application in education, teaching reflection, strengthening of character, virtues and values through education.
It was agreed that one of the next meetings of the Committee be dedicated to preparing and giving detailed information to the members of the Committee about the goals of the Conference.
