Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak and members of the Committee Ms Draginja Vuksanović, Ms Branka Bošnjak, Docent, PhD, Ms Ljiljana Đurašković, PhD and Goran Tuponja met today with UNDP Resident Representative to Montenegro Mr Rastislav Vrbensky for the purpose of exchanging views on introduction of quotas for the less represented gender in the electoral legislation with the aim of improving the existing legislation and finding a model that would make the introduction of quotas to be more effective.
During the meeting, the need of mainstreaming the Law on Election of Councillors and MPs, Law on Political Parties and Law on Financing of Political Parties was also discussed.
Given the importance of political empowerment of women, UNDP Resident Representative to Montenegro Mr Rastislav Vrbensky said that the work of the Working Group for Building Trust in the Election Process represented the opportunity for the measures that were identified in the recommendations of the CEDAW Committee and the European Parliament Resolution on Women's Rights in seven countries of South East Europe to be included in the Law.
