Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak spoke within the panel “Role of the Parliament in Implementing the Istanbul convention”

Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak participated today in the first national conference “Promotion of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence”. 

Gender equality expert from Slovenia, a member and Vice Chair of the UN Committee for Prevention of Discrimination of Women (UN CEDAW) and a member of the Gender Equality Commission (GEC) of the Council of Europe Ms Violeta Neubauer informed the participants with the key aspects of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention) and the obligations stemming from it.

The Conference was organised by the Foundation Petrović Njegoš, the French Institute and the NGO Women's Rights Centre, while the following participated in it: Ms Véronique Brumeaux, Ambassador of France to Montenegro; Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš, Chairperson of the Foundation Petrović Njegoš; Ms Vesna Medenica, President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro; Mr Suad Numanović, PhD, Minister of Human and Minority Rights; and Ms Maja Raičević, Executive Director of the Women's Rights Centre.
