Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak received today the Honorary Consul General of Montenegro to India Ms Janice Darbari

In the beginning of the meeting, Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak and Honorary Consul General of Montenegro to India Ms Janice Darbari pointed out that it was widely recognised that nowhere in the world women were in the same position as men, and that all the necessary measures needed to be undertaken in order to improve that position. 

Additionally, they pointed out that greater participation of women in politics, as well as in the positions of authority, needed to be ensured, and the economic empowerment of women, meaning women’s entrepreneurship, needed to be worked on as well.

Ms Janice Darbari, Honorary Consul General of Montenegro to India presented the experiences of economic empowerment of women in the rural areas of India.

In their conversation, they expressed willingness for cooperation between the Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro and their counterpart in India. Additionally, they recognised the need to form a friendship group with the Parliament of India, in order to promote parliamentary and overall cooperation between Montenegro and India.
