The topics of the meeting covered the following - implementation of the Law on Gender Equality, with amendments to which, in June 2015, the obligation of Montenegro was fulfilled for anti-discrimination laws to be in compliance with the EU acquis; evaluation of the work of national mechanisms for gender equality; preventtion of violence against women and domestic violence, as well as experience on the implementation of the CoE Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul), with the significant contribution of the Committee, as an institutional mechanism for the protection of women's rights. With the adoption of the Law on Ratification of the Convention in 2013, Chairwoman of the Committee pointed out that Montenegro became one of the first countries to commit itself to harmonise its legal framework with the provisions of the Convention, which began to be applied from 1 August 2014.
