Female MPs of the Parliament of Montenegro and members of the Gender Equality Committee participated at a five-day Danube Parliamentary Conference under the auspices of Mr Martin Schulz

Female MPs of the Parliament of Montenegro and members of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak, Ms Draginja Vuksanović and Ms Zdenka Popović participated at a five-day Danube Parliamentary Conference, held from 20-25 May 2013, under the auspices of Mr Martin Schulz, the European Parliament President, organised by Danube Competence Centre and GIZ.

The Conference gathered more than one hundred participants from more than ten European countries.

Female MPs participated in panel discussions devoted to the following topics: promotion of culture, tourism and people to people contacts, support to competitiveness of enterprise, improvement of mobility and multimodality, development of knowledge society through research, education and information-communication technologies, managing environmental risks, EU Strategy for Danube Region and EU Strategy for Baltic See – parliamentary networks as supporting elements for macro-regional development, improvement of mobility and multimodality - rail, road and air transport and standing Danube parliamentary conference – set-up, next steps and way ahead.

In addition to parliamentarians, the participants of the Conference were other political shareholders interested in implementation of the EU Danube Strategy.

The aims of the Conference are directed towards strengthening the European parliamentary cooperation through EU Strategy for Danube Region, which provides a platform for dialogue, regional partnerships and cross-border cooperation, so the development of Danube macro-region would be sustainable in long terms.

Members of the European Parliament as well as members of the parliaments of Montenegro, Serbia, Bavaria, Romania, the region of Bratislava and Vienna adopted the Initiative of the Danube Parliamentary Network.
