Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning meets with Head of Democratisation Department of the OSCE Mission

The Draft Analysis on practice and mechanisms of cooperation between the civic society and the Committee via consultative and control hearings in the field of protection of the environment was considered

Today, on the 25th anniversary since Montenegro’s proclamation of ecological state, Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning Mr Predrag Sekulić has met with Head of Democratisation Department of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro Ms Lia Magnaguagno.

At the meeting, they considered the Draft Analysis on practice and mechanisms of cooperation between the civic society and the Committee via consultative and control hearings in the field of protection of the environment, whose drafting was supported by the OSCE Mission to Montenegro.  They discussed the analysis showing the manner of functioning of the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning from the aspect of cooperation and participation of citizens or organisations of civil society in the field of the environment, indicating the level and results of achieved cooperation, and identifying obstacles for establishing a stronger dialogue. With presentation of analysis, the public would be informed on results of research and recommendations for improvement of communication and concrete cooperation of the Committee with the interested organisations of civil society and the citizens.

During the meeting they emphasised the significance of conservation of the environment and discussed the possibilities of establishing mechanisms for founding of “The Green Chair” which would provide support to the organisations and public professionals in the field of the environment to demonstrate its capacity and expertise and thus help members of the Committee to improve legal solutions in this field. Establishing of “The Green Chair” in practice would mean that a representative of the civil society be present at each Committee meeting. They also pointed out the need for greater interest of the civil sector in this field and provision of contribution during the regular work of the Committee.
