First joint meeting of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare and the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget of the Parliament of Montenegro held

At their first joint meeting, the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare and the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget held a control hearing of the Minister of Health Mr Miodrag Radunović, and the Director of the Public Procurement Administration Mr Mersad Mujević, on the topic “Public Procurement in the Health Sector”.

In accordance with Article 67 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Montenegro, apart from the Minister of Health and the Director of the Public Procurement Administration, the meeting was attended by Mr Kenan Hrapović, MD, Director of the Health Insurance Fund; Mr Milan Mijović, MD, Director of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro (KCCG); Mr Budimir Stanišić, MD, Director of the Health Institution of Pharmacies of Montenegro “Montefarm”; Mr Stevo Muk, the Chairperson of the Management Board of the Institute Alternative; and Mr Dragan Bojović, Programme Coordinator in CEMI.

The multi-hour discussion covered the issues that, among other things, related to the following: implementation of the Law on Public Procurement; quality of care of KCCG toward the citizens; the problem of medicine supply; the activities undertaken by the Ministry of Health in order to reduce eventual corruptive activities in the Health Sector; the delays of tenders for procurement of reagent for the laboratory; reconstruction of the polyclinic of KCCG; the possibility of introduction of the centralised system of public procurement in the health system; the problems during calling for a tender for procurement of medicine, etc.

Following the discussion, it was agreed that, in one of the future meetings, the members of both committees should establish a proposal for the decisions regarding the conducted control hearing.
