Representatives of the Debate Club of the Gymnasium “Slobodan Škerović” visited the Parliament of Montenegro. At the beginning, the students were provided with information on Parliament’s building, i.e. historical facts such as that the building was designed by the architect Mr Vujadin Popović and constructed in 1954.
Gymnasium students had an opportunity to hear when the first Constitution was adopted, when the one-party system terminated i.e. the fact that first democratic elections were held in 1990.
Furthermore, the manner of electing i.e. becoming people’s representative in the Parliament was clarified as well as how the proposal for a law becomes a law.
Representatives of the Debate Club of the Gymnasium “Slobodan Škerović” toured several meeting rooms where working bodies hold their meetings, saw photographs of all former and current President of the Parliament as well as the standing exposition of Montenegrin coats of arms.
The students also found out that, apart from accredited media and NGO who follow the work of the Parliament, every interested citizen may visit the Parliament of Montenegro through project “Open Parliament”.
Today’s visit of high-school students from Podgorica is a part of the project “Open Parliament”, aimed at strengthening relations between the Parliament and citizens.
