Member of the Parliament, Mr Andrija Popović, met with the members of the delegation of the Council of Europe

Member of the Parliament, Mr Andrija Popović, met today with the members of the delegation of the Council of Europe, composed of: Head of the delegation, Mr Michael Petrou (Cyprus), Mr Samuli Rasila (Finland), Mr Janko Dvošak (Slovenia), Mr Michal Rynkowski (Pland) and Ms Mehri Gafar-Zada (representative of the Secretariat for Sports of the Council of Europe).

 

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Minister of Health and Chairwoman of the National Sports Anti-Doping Commission, Ms Mira Jovanovski-Dašić.

Members of the delegation of the Council of Europe are paying a two-day visit to Montenegro, within which, in the capacity of experts of the Monitoring Group for Anti-doping Control and compliance with obligations under the Convention of the Council of Europe, give recommendations to countries that are on the path of European integration and control the level of compliance of the adopted acts.

They initiated the meeting with the MP, Mr Andrija Popović, as the member of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the Deputy Chairman of the MOC (Montenegrin Olympic Committee) and top athlete in Montenegro.

Members of the delegation of the Council of Europe expressed their willingness to provide logistical support to the Montenegrin sport on the path towards elimination of doping, as its greatest anomaly.

MP Popovićinformed the members of the delegation of the Council of Europe about the problems faced by the Montenegrin sport in the fight against doping in sport, as well as about the full commitment of the Montenegrin Parliament, when it came to the legislative resolution of these problems. He expressed satisfaction with the meeting and pointed out that he would inform the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sport with the conclusions of the meeting.
