At today’s preliminary meeting, Proposal of agenda for the IX meeting of the European Union - Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC), which will be held in Brussels on 1 and 2 December, in the European Parliament, was discussed.
Members of the Parliament of Montenegro and European Parliament, at the IX SAPC meeting shall discuss: the current state of negotiations and relations between the European Union and Montenegro; implementation of action plans in the field of rule of law and protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms in Montenegro. In addition, part of this year's meeting of SAPC will be organised through the participation of MPs at a meeting of the of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) and MPs from the parliaments of the Member States of the European Union, which will also be an opportunity to exchange views with the foreign ministers of Western Balkans countries and representative Directorate General for Enlargement on the theme of progress in the region in the process of joining the European Union.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Mr Igor Lukšić will speak on the meeting of SAPC about the current state of the accession negotiations and relations between the European Union and Montenegro. At the preliminary meeting, SAPC rapporteurs for some items on the agenda are appointed, including representatives of both – parliamentary majority and the opposition. MPs Obrad Mišo Stanisić and Predrag Bulatović will report on the implementation of action plans in the field of rule of law, while MPs Azra Jasavić and Nada Drobnjak will speak on the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms in Montenegro.
The following members of the Parliament of Montenegro will participate in the IX SAPC meeting: President of the Parliament Mr Ranko Krivokapić, who is a co-chair of the SAPC, Mr Slaven Radunović, deputy co-chair and members of the Committee: Mr Milutin Simović, Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić, Mr Mevludin Nuhodžić, Ms Nada Drobnjak, Mr Damir Šehović, Mr Koča Pavlović, Mr Predrag Bulatović, Mr Danko Šarančić, Mr Darko Pajović and Ms Azra Jasavić.
European Union - Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) was established in June 2010, after the Stabilisation and Association Agreement came into force. It is composed of 14 members from both the Parliament of Montenegro and European Parliament.
