Fifth Meeting of the European Union - Montenegro Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee to start tomorrow in Brussels

MPs of the Parliament of Montenegro and MEPs will consider current issues in Montenegro at the Parliamentary Committee meeting.

Issues related to fulfilling of Stabilization and Association Agreement, significant for Montenegro and for the Parliament itself, will be considered on the Agenda of the Fifth Meeting of the European Union - Montenegro Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee. Montenegrin MPs and MEPs will consider monitoring of recommendations adopted on the previous SAPS Meeting in Podgorica, and then other topics envisaged by the agenda – overseeing the course of negotiations and other available oversight parliamentary mechanisms, regional cooperation, progress achieved in fight against organized crime and corruption and economic movements. At the end of two day meeting, it is expected that Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee adopts Declaration and recommendations.

Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee was formed in June 2010 upon entering into force of the Stabilization and Association Agreement and it has been composed of 14 Montenegrin MPs and 14 MEPs. Following the constitution of 25th Convocation of the Parliament, the Collegium of the President of the Parliament reached a decision on appointing the members of the European Union - Montenegro Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee on its second meeting held on 12th November. Members of the SAPC from the Parliament of Montenegro are: Mr. Ranko Krivokapić, the Chair, Mr. Slaven Radunović, Vice-Chair, Mr. Milutin Simović MA, Mr. Predrag Bošković MA, Mr. Miodrag Vuković docent PhD, Mr. Obrad Mišo Stanišić, Mr. Mevludin Nuhodžić, Mr. Suljo Mustafić, Mr. Raško Konjević, Mr. Koča Pavlović, Mr. Predrag Bulatović, Mr. Srđan Milić, Mr. Darko Pajović and Mr. Dritan Abazović MA.

As usual, the meeting will be an opportunity for exchange of opinions between the representatives of the Government of Montenegro, the EU Council and the European Commission on the state of play between the European Union and Montenegro. On the behalf of the Government of Montenegro, the meeting will be attended by Mr. Duško Marković, Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice and Human Rights and Mr. Nebojša Kaluđerović, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. On behalf of the European Commission, the meeting will be attended by Ms. Alexandra Cas-Granje, Lady Director of Directorate B (Croatia, Montenegro, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, Island) of the European Commission Enlargement Directorate General.
