On the occasion of completing the cooperation project between the Parliament of Montenegro and organisation the Northern Ireland Overseas Cooperation (NICO), the meeting was held, during which the following exchanged opinions: Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr DamirDavidović, MA, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Montenegro Mr Ian Whitting, NICO representative Ms Fiona Coyle, leader of the project and expert for human resources Mr Paul McCallion as well as employees of the Parliamentary Service who had participated in the project actively.
The project, assessed by the interlocutors as very successful, started in October 2012; following the competition of the cooperation programme between the Parliament of Montenegro and Westminster Foundation for Democracy(WFD), the Parliament continued cooperation with NICO, which had been one of the partners in the previous cooperation programme.
During today’s meeting, the Secretary General said that the project was an example of very successful cooperation, with sustainable results as encouragement for further development. He voiced special gratitude to the Embassy of the United Kingdom, the Ambassador Ian Whitting and his associates – whose support has provided the project to be implemented.
Ambassador Whitting voiced pleasure over the fact that the Embassy was able to make contribution to improvement of the Parliament’s administrative capacities, assessing its role as important in the process of amending and reforming public administration. He particularly emphasised that the project contributed not only to sharing experiences but also making the process of human resources developmentsustainable.
