The publication “Oversight functions of the Bundestag including a brief comparison to those of the Parliament of Montenegro” was presented today at the Parliament of Montenegro. The presentation was prepared by the international lawyer company Ashurst, in cooperation with the Network for Affirmation of the NGO sector (MANS), through support program the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Montenegro, contains presentation of primarily oversight functions of Bundestag, as well as brief comparison of Procedures and practices of this Parliament and the Parliament of Montenegro. 
The introductory speeches were delivered by the Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Damir Davidović and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Pius Fischer, while Mr. Vuk Maraš, the director of the Monitoring Programme of MANS, presented the contents of the publication.
The Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr. Damir Davidovic, in his opening remarks, particularly thanked the Ambassador of the Federal Republic Germany in Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Pius Fischer, for the support to the Montenegrin parliament through numerous cooperation programs to strengthen the administrative capacities as well as providing support on the path towards the European Union. The importance of cooperation that the Parliament has with civil society organizations was stressed, where we have specific product as a result of various partnerships, in this case, the document, which can be mutually beneficial for the Parliament and civil society, but also advisable for the public in terms of getting acquainted with the views or in this case, the best practices of other parliaments.
Mr. Davidović said that the models of oversight role of the Parliament of Montenegro and Bundestag are essentially very similar, but certainly the degree of development of the Bundestag for their implementation is much higher and it is a direct result of decades of work on their development with the investment of significant resources. He concluded that there was no single solution or model by which adoption of the issue of improving the oversight role of parliament could be regarded as final, but that is simply a process that will always seek openness to new ideas and investing considerable energy to developing institutions.
The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Pius Fischer, pointed out the great importance the parliament as a legislative institutions in democratic systems has, highlighting the need to represent a modern institution that seeks to strengthen the capacity and improve transparency. In this regard, he praised the progress made by the Parliament of Montenegro, particularly emphasizing the high degree of transparency and openness and announced that he was surprised by the significant similarity the Rules of Procedures in the field of supervision, but the Parliament of Montenegro certainly must emphasize implementation and capacity development.
The Director of Monitoring Network for Affirmation of NGO Sector Mr. Vuk Maras thanked for the support of the Embassy of Germany in efforts for democracy in Montenegro and presented the content of the publication with comparative analysis of supervisory functions German Bundestag and the Parliament of Montenegro. He pointed to the need that institutions in Montenegro, in cooperation with civil society organizations and in bilateral contacts, should continue even more strongly to the transfer of best practices and experience in all segments of operation.
The Presentation was attended by vice-presidents of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Branko Radulović and Mr. Suljo Mustafić, representatives of MPs Clubs, as well as employees in the Service of the Parliament.
