Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Damir Davidović, had a meeting today with the Director of Konrad Adenauer Foundation for Serbia and Montenegro, Mr. Henri Bohnet.
Secretary General of the Parliament acquainted the interlocutor with changes in the work and organization of the Parliament conducted with the aim of further strengthening of legislative and oversight role, as well as more efficient participation in the EU integration process. In that regard, he emphasized the importance of involvement of line working bodies in monitoring the harmonization of the legislation of Montenegro with the EU legislation, but also the participation of the Parliament staff in working groups for the preparation of negotiations, namely the screening process. Furthermore, he pointed to the significant improvement of different segments of the work of the Parliament, strengthening of the oversight role, transparency of work, as well as administrative capacities.
Interlocutors exchanged opinions on future cooperation models of the Parliament of Montenegro and Konrad Adenauer Foundation, mentioning as specific areas of concern the rule of law, the judiciary, the fight against corruption and environment protection. In addition, possibilities of participation of Parliament staff in a study visit to Bundestag were discussed, participation in trainings concerning environment protection, as well as organizing round tables to discuss topics from the rule of law, fight against crime and implementing of reforms on the path towards the EU.
Plans for the current year and projects that the Parliament has been implementing in cooperation with other international organizations and institutions were discussed at the meeting.
