Vice President Mustafić positively estimated intensifying of political contacts, as well as contribution of Canada to Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro, emphasising that Canada was one of the countries that was helping our country not only with words, but also with concrete action.
Vice President Mustafić also pointed out the need for and significance of parliamentary cooperation, and in that regard he proposed the exchange of information and experiences between the parliamentary committees of Montenegro and Canada, as well as forming of a friendship group between the two parliaments, as a special form of parliamentary diplomacy. Vice President Mustafić informed his guest on the number of emigrants from Montenegro living and working in Canada.
Vice President Mustafić also positively estimated the results in the field of economic cooperation within the project Porto Montenegro, which contributed to positioning Montenegro as an elite destination of yachting tourism and represented a positive example and impulse for intensifying economic cooperation, attracting new Canadian investment and investing in projects from the field of energy, infrastructure, tourism, culture, science and education.
The MP of the House of Commons of Canadian Parliament Mr Russ Hiebert pointed out that this was his first time in Montenegro, but that prior to coming to our country he had identified a number of areas in which the two countries could cooperate, mainly with regard to production of electrical energy, oil and gas exploration, tourism, as well as cooperation in the field of defence and security.
The MP Hiebert agreed with the proposal of Vice President Mustafić on forming of the Friendship Group between the two parliaments, noting that development of good parliamentary relations could influence intensifying of current relations and establishment of new ones between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors expressed their expectations that relations between the two countries would be additionally enhanced in the upcoming period in multiple areas, especially with regard to parliamentary cooperation.
