Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro and Chairperson of the Friendship Group for cooperation with the Parliament of France Mr Branko Radulović hosted the meeting with French MPs. The meeting of the two friendship groups was concentrated on the topic of Montenegro’s progress in integration processes, but also manners for more comprehensive and intensive cooperation of the two parliaments.
Chairperson of the Friendship Group of France with Montenegro Mr Patrice Verchère expressed openness for support and help of France to Montenegro in the fields important for achieving full democracy and creating society based on the rule of law, but also fulfilling foreign policy priorities.
The participants jointly stated that unique form of bilateral parliamentary cooperation within friendship groups confirmed good relations among states and represented important continuation of official diplomacy, hence it was necessary to improve the existing parliamentary mechanisms.
The meeting was attended by members of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of Montenegro with the Parliament of France: Mr Miodrag Vuković, Mr Predrag Sekulić, Mr Miodrag Lekić, Mr Vladislav Bojović, Mr Aleksandar Damjanović, Mr Srđan Perić and Mr Genci Nimanbegu, who, on the occasion, shared views with French counterparts, proposing initiatives for deepening the cooperation in numerous fields of common interest.
During the continuation of the working part of the visit of French parliamentarians of the Friendship Group with Montenegro, the meeting was held with Chairperson and members of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants.
On the occasion, Chairperson of the Committee Mr Miodrag Vuković informed the French parliamentarians on responsibilities of the Committee, particularly its activities regarding the issues of general parliamentary bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, and cooperation achieved in friendship groups formed by the Committee. He thinks that parliamentary cooperation should be strengthened, intensified and improved. Mr Vuković stated that traditionally good friendly relations of Montenegro and France were the basis of the cooperation.
On behalf of the Friendship Group of France with Montenegro, Mr Patrice Verchère stressed the importance of direct exchange of opinions among parliamentarians, since it contributed to connecting and networking of contacts, achieving interests and priorities in overall bilateral relations and establishing more productive interparliamentary cooperation.
Members of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Goran Danilović, Mr Danko Šarančić, Mr Jasmin Sutović and Mr Milan Knežević informed the French counterparts with their political objectives and directions of further development of Montenegro.
Cooperation and exchange of opinions among relevant working bodies of French and Montenegrin parliaments was supported by the both sides.
The meeting with the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of France to Montenegro H.E. Mr Veronik Brimo.
Delegation of the Friendship Group of France with Montenegro is composed of Chairperson of the Friendship Group Mr Patrice Verchère, Deputy Chairperson Mr Philippe Gosselin, and members Ms Geneviève Gosselin-Fleury and Ms Florence Delaunay.
