Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Milutin Simović today received Mr Hugo Maldonado, Chairperson of the Committee on Economy of the Chamber of Deputies of the Congress of the Argentine Nation. The meeting of Vice President Simović and MP Mr Maldonado proceeded in a constructive conversation during which they agreed on the need for a more intensive political and economic cooperation, especially with regard to opportunities for foreign investments offered by Montenegro.
Vice President Simović pointed out that relations between Montenegro and Argentina were very good and friendly and that they were being advanced and developed through substantive cooperation in all fields and intensive political dialogue. He emphasised that creation of the business environment for attracting foreign investments was one of Montenegrin priorities and pointed out that the necessary legal framework in that part had been developed, guaranteeing security, rule of law, and protection of investments.
Vice President Simović emphasised that the testimony of good bilateral relations of the two countries was also Montenegro’s support to Argentina’s candidacy for membership in numerous international organisations.
With regard to political relations, Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro informed his guest that there had been several high level visits between the two countries, which resulted in signing of numerous agreements.
Vice President Simović also noted that Montenegro had historical links with Argentina, considering that a large number of descendants of Montenegrin emigrants lived there - which additionally connected the two countries.
Furthermore, he also highlighted that the two parliaments did not have friendship groups formed, with estimate that they represented one of the foundations of parliamentary cooperation, but also the overall relations of the two countries and that in the following period both parliaments should launch the initiative for forming of a friendship group. He also expressed the need for further exchange of information and experiences between the two parliaments, especially through official visits of members of the two friendship groups, as the best manner of strengthening bilateral relations.
MP Mr Maldonado emphasised that Argentina and Montenegro had traditionally good relations, as well as that the joint interests of both countries was to deepen the cooperation, especially with regard to economy, science and culture, with the same remark - that parliamentary relations needed to be developed and strengthened through forming of friendship groups.
At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors concluded that relations of the two countries so far represented a good foundation for further promotion of cooperation on all levels.
