President of the Parliament of Montenegro and President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Mr Ranko Krivokapić pays an official visit to Poland

President of the Parliament of Montenegro and President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Mr Ranko Krivokapić is paying an official visit to Poland, at the invitation of the Speaker of the Sejm – Parliament of Poland Ms Ewa Kopacz.

Speaker Kopacz congratulated Mr Krivokapić on the election to important function such as the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, expressing expectance that during his mandate he would contribute to further strengthening of the Parliamentary Assembly role. President Krivokapić thanked to the support that Poland had been providing to Montenegro on its path to the EU and NATO and voiced expectance that the support would be also continued in the following phases of joining process. He stated that Montenegro was devoted to reforms demanded by the European integration process, and that the devotion resulted by Montenegrin leadership in this field in the Western Balkans region. “The last efforts we have done through adoption of Constitutional amendments relating to judiciary reform and certain opening of negotiation chapters relating the rule of law, prove the devotion and our decisiveness to keep the regional leadership position on the path towards the EU”, Mr Krivokapić said.


President Krivokapić also informed the Speaker Kopacz on priorities of his presidency over the Parliamentary Assembly, voicing expectance that Polish parliamentarians would continue to overall work of the PA. During the meeting with Speaker in the Polish Senate Mr Bogdan Borusewicz, it was mutually assessed that there were no open issues between the two countries and that relations were friendly, what should be used for strengthening cooperation primarily in the economic relations field. President Krivokapić informed the interlocutor on priorities that Montenegro had been facing with currently, emphasising the continuous work on reform of legislation with the aim of its harmonisation with European legislation. 

During his visit, President Krivokapić met with Marshal of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Parliament of Poland Mr Grzegorz Schetyna, members of the Polish Parliament to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and he also visited the seat of the OSCE- ODIHR Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, where he spoke on modalities of cooperation between the Parliamentary Assembly and that Office specially in charge of election observation in OSCE countries.
