President of the Parliament of Montenegro and OSCE PA Mr Ranko Krivokapić received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, Evangelos Venizelos

President Krivokapić and H.E. Mr Venizelos noted the traditionally friendly relations between Montenegro and the Hellenic Republic. Cooperation of the two countries is continuously intensifying. 

President Krivokapić emphasised the significance of the Hellenic Republic to Montenegro in light of Euro-Atlantic integrations of our country. “Especially from the viewpoint of keeping similar traditional values and good international understanding of the two people”, pointed out Mr Krivokapić.

The interlocutors pointed out the role and results that the Parliament of Montenegro achieved through complex process of legislative reforms, aimed at strengthening of democracy and institutions of the state of Montenegro.

A special part of this meeting was dedicated to Montenegro’s progress in the NATO integration process. “It is very important that Montenegro placed NATO alliance membership high on the list of strategic state goals”, pointed out Mr Venizelos.

There is a set of important processes and continuous work on strengthening the rule of law before our country, and that is the only right course toward the NATO harbour. In these processes and on this path Greece is, and will be, a friend of Montenegro - said Mr Krivokapić and Mr Venizelos.

The interlocutors pointed out the important role of parliamentary democracy in all processes of integration of a country into the international structures, and evaluated the work and contribution of the Parliament of Montenegro in this field as more than successful.

Montenegro and Greece have strong touristic and economic potentials that need to be mutually connected and thus stronger economic ties of the two countries could be built.
