President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Mr Ranko Krivokapić, hosted a meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegation of OSCE PA in Vienna

At the meeting of Russian and Ukrainian parliamentarians, held in Vienna at the invitation of the President of OSCE PA, Mr Ranko Krivokapić, a common agreement was reached, stating that in order to reduce the tension it was necessary to continue and strengthen dialogue, which should focus on the vital issues of citizens who were affected by the current crisis. 

The meeting had been arranged during the 24 hour official visit of the President Krivokapić to Moscow and Kiev.

Addressing the Russian and Ukrainian parliaments, Mr Krivokapić reminded that one of the fundamental objectives of the OSCE was strengthening of cooperation and dialogue.

The OSCE was designed to be the proper place and that through exchange of views and arguments, in a constructive atmosphere, it should secure parliamentary dialogue between Russian and Ukrainian parliamentarians on the Ukrainian crisis.

"The primary goal at this point is to continue the dialogue, protect basic human rights, to reduce tensions that could jeopardize the safety and lives of the people”, Mr Krivokapić said.
President Krivokapić pointed out in the end that both parliaments showed maturity appropriate to severe crisis and expressed satisfaction that the two sides found common ground and agreed positions, which was an important step forward for their countries and the international community as a whole.
