“Honorable,
If the people of Europe could win freedom from the fascist army and the human devastations, then we need to preserve and defend, more than ever, the values for which they gave their lives.
There is a strong thread of anti-fascist tradition in our nation. The fight against nationalism and chauvinism is the only way to preserve civil Montenegro, supporting the heritage values of a modern peaceful Europe.
To all who have given their lives for joint society of equality, and thus to Montenegro as such, we owe eternal gratitude and are obliged to commit ourselves to follow their path.
The ninth of May is a historic torch that lit the way of war free Europe.
Symbols of 9 May are indelibly woven into the Montenegrin state symbols and should remain in place for ever with the full commitment of all of us to them. This date is a unique day of youth to all of Europe.
On behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro and my own behalf, I congratulate to you 9 May – Victory Day over Fascism and Europe Day.”
