President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ranko Krivokapić and the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Josip Leko organised the meeting of delegations of national parliaments of Group of Countries of Southeast Europe of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Zagreb.
The first meeting in Zagreb is the follow up to the meeting held in Budva within the Fall Meetings in October 2013, organized on the initiative of the President Krivokapić – which was aimed at uniting, or joint action, promotion of common goals and values of the region within the framework of international organizations such as the OSCE.
The meeting of parliamentary delegations of Montenegro, the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Slovenia and Albania, with the activity within the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is the beginning of the organised promotion of the vision of the region in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
The Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between delegation missions of national parliaments of the Group of Countries of Southeast Europe of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was signed at the meeting, but the Joint Resolution on cooperation in South East Europe supported basically as well, to be discussed at the following OSCE PA Annual Session in Baku.
On this occasion Mr Krivokapić said: ″Gathering Group of Countries of South East Europe within the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is an authentic statement of the region, through action of which additional affirmation to our achievements would be provided. Our endeavor is to unite efforts, as we are united by common values. We want to affirm the value of each other and to support each other through joint statements that will help everyone in the region. This is the first small, but productive step, which will be highlighted by a joint resolution at the Annual Session in Baku.″
President Krivokapić concluded by saying: ″We will not be solving problems only with new institutions, but with pragmatic organization, through activities, through joint action in the existing ones. We have already collected enough experience to help the OSCE region, which brings together countries from Vancouver to Vladivostok. It is important to preserve the presence of the OSCE in the region, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where it is the most necessary"
During his visit to Croatia, the President Krivokapić also met with the President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr Ivo Josipović.
