President of the Parliament receives Minister of European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Turkey

President of the Parliament of Montenegro and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Mr Ranko Krivokapić received in Podgorica Mr Mevlüt Ҫavuşoğlu, Minister of European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Turkey.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr Krivokapić and Mr Ҫavuşoğlu deemed the relations between Montenegro and Turkey as good, adding that those have been intensified in several areas of mutual interest.

President Krivokapić said that Montenegro and the Republic of Turkey, as Mediterranean countries, have been facing similar challenges, and that Monetegro’s membership to NATO would represent integration into a common security system, that would make that part of ​​Europe additionally stable and secure.

"From Portugal to Turkey, the only part of the Mediterranean coast, which is not under the NATO umbrella is Montenegro. Therefore, it is important to unify our coast completely in terms of security ", Mr Krivokapić underlined.

Minister Ҫavuşoğlu said that the Republic of Turkey was a  friend to Montenegro, and that it would have the unquestioned support when the Euro-Atlantic integration is concerned. “The results which you have achieved since the restoration of independence in 2006, as well as the harmony of coexistence between people of different religions, is an example not only for the region but also for Europe", Mr Ҫavuşoğlu pointed out.
