In addition to President Ranko Krivokapic opening of XVI CPF was attended by Mr Mevlüt Ҫavuşoğlu Minister of European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator of Turkey, Ambassador Studman Special Representative of the OSCE for the Western Balkans, Mr Goran Svilanović Secretary General of RCC and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the FRY/SCG, as well as numerous parliamentarians and representatives of states in the region.
In his opening speech at XVI CPF, President Krivokapić reminded of the importance of parliamentary initiative such as the Cetinje Parliamentary Forum, since it is a model of close and specific cooperation between the countries in this part of Europe since 2004.
“Parliaments have a special role since reforms are the main challenge for the Balkans. Those reforms by law create a room for populism. Parliaments have to be a dam for populism since the parliaments represent the rule of citizens and thus must ensure that genuine reforms, no matter how painful are, should receive and make political statements grounded in the principles of development and democracy", said Krivokapić.
President Ranko Krivokapic pointed out in his speech: "We in Montenegro know how women are brave, we know that is brave to have a house and a business and to receive all the difficulties of the world which is predominantly designed for men. Both Turkey and the Western Balkans strongly grab to open more space for women. There is a special obligation of the state in there; to provide quota in banks, special guarantee funds, and I am certain after all to create a good climate in the public for a woman to be one opportunity more for business, not only a random case.”
