President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ranko Krivokapić, received today the delegation of American congressmen, led by Congressmen Michael Turner. The delegation was composed of Congressmen Loretta Sanchez and Congressmen Paul Cook, as well as H.E. Ms Sue K. Brown, US Ambassador to Montenegro.
President Krivokapić and Congressmen Turner assessed that the relations between Montenegro and the United States enjoy continuous progress, which positioned the United States as one of the most important foreign partners of our country.
″The Parliament of Montenegro, and me personally as its President, have been particularly pleased to host such an important and high-level delegation of the United States″, Krivokapić said. He stressed that this visit occurred at a very important moment for Montenegro, on the day of handover of the Progress Report in the Parliament of Montenegro, as well as in the eve of intensified activities of fulfilling the obligations towards integration into NATO.
Congressmen Michael Turner is the Head of the American delegation in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and he has made a significant contribution to the establishment of the Montenegrin caucus in the American Congress, which was formed in November last year during an official visit of Krivokapić to the USA.
Discussion of the President Krivokapićand Congressman Turner was focused mostly on the field of Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as questions of intensification of cooperation between the Montenegrin Parliament and the American Congress.
Friendly relations between the Parliament and the Congress, as well as strong support from the side of the United States to Montenegro on its Euro-Atlantic path, are of great importance and represent additional security in the process of strengthening the rule of law and Montenegrin institutions, the interlocutors assessed.
