President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ranko Krivokapić have received Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Mr Evangelos Meimarakis, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro, today in Podgorica. On behalf of their parliaments, the two officials signed memorandum on enhancing the cooperation of the Parliament of Montenegro and Hellenic Parliament.
President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ranko Krivokapić thanked to his Greece counterpart - Speaker of the Hellenic Parliamnent Mr Meimarakis on his contribution to Montenegro while he was performing a duty of Hellenic Minister of Defence.
“While he was a Minister of Defence, my colleague Meimarakis was opening a NATO door for us, because Greece was the first contact country to NATO for Montenegro in 2008. The Hellenic Parliament is also helping us now on our path towards EU: Greece, as president country, on two occasions gave strong impetus to Montenegro in its integration, and today’s meeting is an opportunity to continue agreeing on and encouraging our path towards EU and NATO”, President Ranko Krivokapić said.
The Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament says that everybody knows how Montenegro and Greece appreciate one another.
Ties between our states and our nations are very strong. It is of high importance that our cooperation is based on mutual interests, and I believe that our two nations share those values: life in peace and pacing towards progress. That is my message and I want to pass it here, that we all should advance on the progress path. In times when countries pass through great challenges, our parliaments have the most significant role in society”, Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Mr Evangelos Meimarakis said.
The two officials visited “Democracy Workshops” and spend time socialising with children who were in the process of education and training.
