“Citizens of Novi,
This is an opportunity to remember all of 586 fallen soldiers and victims from the territory of Novi, who laid down their lives precisely 70 years ago for the freedom of the town at the entrance of the most beautiful bay. Three-day fight for liberation of the town is one of key pillars in anti-fascist resistance of Boka and cost.
Today, Novi is a town at the edge of the European Union, town of centuries-old culture and tradition with its highest artistic pearls and achievements. Herceg Novi deserves to attract again with its uniqueness and beauty, like a delicate mimosa flower, which it had in 80s.
The priority of local government, with the help of the state, must be investment in infrastructure and tourist facilities, with the aim of significantly increasing the engagement of citizens of Novi and thereby better quality of life. Development and modernisation must be followed by a special care for cultural property and environment, because the legacy of Novi is rare.
With their courage, soldiers from Novi saved Škver and city walls from the destruction of aggression, therefore we all owe great gratitude to them, all you have to guard their legacy.
On behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro and on my own behalf, I congratulate you the Municipality Day.”
