President of the Parliament receives Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Montenegro in Belgrade

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ranko Krivokapić received today Mr Jean-Daniel Ruch, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Montenegro in Belgrade.

President Krivokapić and H.E. Ambassador Ruch assessed the relations between Montenegro and Swiss Confederation as good and friendly.

During their conversation, the interlocutors assessed that the Swiss presidency over the OSCE was very important to Montenegro, because Switzerland intensively supported the path of our country towards the EU and NATO. H. E. Mr Ruch assessed that Switzerland welcomed Montenegrin reforms on this path, because the Euro-Atlantic harbour was the future and security of the entire region.

One of the topics covered in this conversation was the state of the freedom of media in Montenegro, as well as in the region, considering that the President Ranko Krivokapić was the honorary president of the OSCE PA. President Krivokapić and Ambassador Ruch underlined that the freedom of media was vitally important for democracy and further development of society. Additionally, that freedom needed to be followed by professionalism and objectivity.

In the EU member states, the topic of freedom of media holds a high position at the priority list, and it will be in focus of attention of our path towards the full-fledged membership to the EU.
