President Krivokapić and Deputy Chairperson Zhang Ping assessed the relations between Montenegro and the People's Republic of China as good and friendly. At the meeting, they noted the continuity in increasingly intensive cooperation between the two states, relating to commercial, tourism and scientific sphere.
In his conversation with Mr Zhang Ping, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ranko Krivokapić assessed that the historic venture of Montenegro and the greatest projects such as the highway, would symbolically also be a path of friendship of the two states and the two people. President Krivokapić informed his guest that the Parliament of Montenegro was soon expecting in its procedure a set of documents signifying the implementation of the Bar-Boljare highway project. “Our generations did not have the privilege to grow up with a cult Yugoslav film “Most” (Bridge). Even today that grandiose object-monument exists at Đurđevića Tara. It has been destiny that China, we hope, will build the biggest arch bridge precisely in Montenegro within the highway project. That bridge will be a symbol of our friendship and a flywheel to further development of Montenegro”, said President Krivokapić.
Deputy Chairperson Zhang Ping expressed his pleasure and joy over the highway construction project, and his belief that the beginning of implementation of this great venture for Montenegro would start soon, and that the project would have a friendly support of the entire system. “The PR of China is integrating itself into a new global trend, and China wants strengthening of cooperation with the world, and there is also our great desire for strengthening our friendship with Montenegro”, was the message of Mr Zhang Ping.
The interlocutors underlined that, in addition to cooperation, in nautical industry (third boat is in construction), traffic, there was also a great potential of Montenegro to touristically satisfy the increasing interest of the Chinese, because in the last year alone, about 10 million Chinese touristically stayed outside of their country. In addition to tourism growth, there was also a commerce growth of 40% in relation of the two economies.
The Parliament of Montenegro and the National People's Congress (NPC) of the People's Republic of China are vitally important institutions in political life of the two countries, and that in the upcoming period there needs to be work on strengthening of institutional relations of these two institutions. Both in the legislative process and sharing of experiences regarding the rule of law and combating corruption. In the PR of China the rule of law and anti-corruption hold a priority position in the country’s agenda, therefore the interlocutors assessed that the two Parliaments could greatly contribute to that fight, for common goals.
