“Esteemed representatives of free thought and speech,
A small country like Montenegro may survive only by believing in justice and truth. If there were not for those who fight for truth and justice, there would have not been victory over the injustice nor return of Montenegro to its full civic, spiritual and legal status.
The most difficult thing in life is to fight injustice and be the messenger of truth, especially in times when that means giving away the comfort zone in the shadow of the populism and non-confrontation. That's why the free public, professional journalism and word of honour are the lifeline of every democracy, the society based on political system in which the justice is a sole ruler.
I believe that you will have enough strength and professional ardour to respond to challenges of the new time and save yourselves and your profession from ephemeral darkness. Only in that manner we will be the society of brave people – the society walking on the part of Euro-Atlantic values.
On behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro and on my own behalf, I congratulate you Journalists' Day”
