President of the Parliament participates in the XIV Winter Meeting of the OSCE PA

President Emeritus of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ranko Krivokapić participates in the XIV Winter Meeting of the OSCE PA, which takes place in Vienna. 

The XIV Winter Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly started in Vienna today, and the participants include President Krivokapić, who is also the Head of Montenegrin Delegation, consisting of MPs Mr Milutin Simović and Mr Goran Danilović.

Before the beginning of the OSCE PA Winter Meeting, President Emeritus of the OSCE PA Mr Ranko Krivokapić participated in the extraordinary meeting of the Bureau – gathering the top leadership of the Parliamentary Assembly. At the extraordinary meeting, the discussed topics included issues requiring dialogue within PA, as well as other topics falling under the competence of the top leadership of the biggest parliamentary assembly in the world. Furthermore, other topics included arrangement of the Spring Meeting of the Vienna Process, chaired by President Ranko Krivokapić, and aimed at solving the Ukrainian crisis through parliamentary dialogue.

During his visit to Vienna, President Krivokapić had a separate meeting with Ms Dunja Mijatović, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. During the meeting, the interlocutors noted that the present time brought new challenges to which no segment of society was immune, including the media. “The media are often the reflection of the overall situation and developments in a society, and the challenges that the media face in our country require new institutional solutions. Especially in part relating to self-regulation and strengthening of honouring of the professional code”, said President Krivokapić.

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ranko Krivokapić visited “Democracy Workshops” in the Parliament of Austria, upon which model and with support of the late Barbara Prammer (President of the Parliament of Austria) the Parliament of Montenegro has started and is successfully implementing this project of educating primary school students in our state on democracy and parliamentarism.

More than 11,000 Montenegrin children from all primary schools have gone through this project. Children who participate in Montenegrin “Democracy Workshops – Barbara Prammer” prepared a special edition of the newspapers to their counterparts and “Greetings from Montenegro” which were delivered on their behalf to the Austrian children by President Krivokapić.
