Mr Krivokapić and Mr Lajčák agreed that the integration process had no alternative and that it has been bringing Montenegro closer to the union of free and democratic states. Mr Krivokapić thanked Slovakia for the support it had been providing to Montenegro since gaining its independence, especially regarding the integration processes.
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovakia Mr Miroslav Lajčák congratulated Montenegro on success and progress it has achieved. Stating that the EU accession process was the best manner for a state transformation and adoption of better standards, Mr Lajčák added that Montenegro was a leader of integration in the Western Balkans region, confirming that the enlargement process existed, lived and continued.
Mr Krivokapić and Mr Lajčák also noted that NATO membership was of crucial importance for Montenegro, and that enlargement of Euro-Atlantic family could not be completed without the Western Balkans countries.
Mr Krivokapić and Mr Lajčák today opened the National Convention on European Integration of Montenegro (NKEI 2013-2014).
