Congratulatory message on the occasion of 1 May - International Workers' Day

President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ranko Krivokapić, issued a proclamation of May 1 on the occasion of the International Workers' Day, to citizens of Montenegro, head officials and membership of Montenegrin trade unions:

“Honorable,

Creators and hard-working people must be the driving force of every society and the force of state building and its development. Country, and by country I mean the holders of key positions, must devote their duties to insurance of workers and provide them not only with legal and economic system that means regular monthly payment and adequate remuneration for their work, but what is more important - dignity.

After World War II, Montenegro managed to revive from the rubble and be the state with the economy and knowledge that could live from their work and creation. The transition has left many jobless and inflicted much injustice deepening social gap. The solution is to invest in sustainable projects, in valorization of available resources, but only in a way that we manage our own propertyand keep it for generations that have not been born yet.

A solid guarantee for that is the adequate rule of law, the law equal for all - the state in the service of its citizen. We shall measure our success by the number of those who will come back to Montenegro, who had left in search for their existential dignity.

On behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro and my own behalf, I congratulate to you 1 May - International Workers' Day.

Mr Ranko Krivokapić
