Congratulating on the fifth anniversary of 2BS Forum, President Krivokapić thanked to the Atlantic Council on the exquisite contribution that it gave to interests of Montenegro and Atlantic integration, but also to interests of the whole region. He added that work of the NGO sector was a proof that Montenegrin diplomacy was vital and ready for full membership.
President Krivokapić emphasised that as a parliamentarian he could not miss the opportunity to congratulate the colleagues on sixty years of NATO Parliamentary Assembly and that it represented a jubilee of NATO’s democratic strength.
‘’It is a great achievement that NATO - through parliamentary activities - gives an invaluable contribution not only to strengthening of NATO’s democratic feeling, but also providing an opportunity for citizens to see the NATO as a powerful institution that they can belong to”.
President stressed that in the present time, defined as a time of insecurity and security challenges, we need lighthouses to lead us, and that for Montenegro NATO represented a fundamental guarantee of security.
“History values the least those who prevented the big damages, and if we removed the NATO, only for a moment, from our memory in the period following the II World War, could we possibly imagine the problems of Europe, the whole western world and all those countries behind the curtain”, Mr Krivokapić asked in his address to participants of the gathering.
Mr Krivokapić added that those untold damages that never happened were prevented by the NATO, by its clear message of power, but above that, the system of values it stood for. He underlined that NATO’s main strength was its system of values, adding that if one was not superior in powers, it was not also superior in strength.
He said that he believed that number 29 was happy for Montenegro, because two seats under that number were waiting for it in the NATO and EU, hoping that the new Montenegro will be in the north, even though Atlantic Montenegro is in the south-east.
