President of the Parliament meets in Helsinki Speaker of the Finnish Parliament

President of the Parliament of Montenegro and OSCE PA Emeritus President met Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Ms Maria Lohela in Helsinki today.

During the 24th Annual Session of the OSCE PA, President Ranko Krivokapić officially met with his Finnish counterpart Ms Maria Lohela.

During the meeting, President Ranko Krivokapić stressed the role of Montenegrin Parliament in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration – as the institution which, according to assessment of European and regional addresses – has a reputation of the most transparent, most open and politically strong parliament. “The Parliament of Montenegro is becoming a place of common dialogue and decision-making, with continuous strengthening of its constitutional function of control and oversight over the other branches of power“, Mr Krivokapić emphasised.

At the meeting, he assessed that Finland was giving an honest support to Montenegro’s European path, and that Montenegro’s aspirations towards NATO membership were a guarantee of peace and stability in the Western Balkans. They voiced willingness for strengthening cooperation of the two parliaments, particularly in the part of the EU integration through advisory and expert help.

President Krivokapić and Speker Lohela pointed out that there was a room for intensifying cooperation in all fields of the two states, particularly in the field of economy. The interlocutors emphasised that the strengthening of the rule of law opened a room for investments, thus making a state significantly attractive for investors.

President Krivokapić thanked to Speaker Lohela for the expert help that Finland has been providing to Montenegro in the field of negotiation chapters 23 and 24, as well as in the field of education and borders management.
