During the meeting of President Krivokapić with the delegation headed by Member of the Bundestag Mr Josip Juratović, the interlocutors discussed the EU and NATO integration of Montenegro, media freedom and political developments.
President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ranko Krivokapić stressed good relations and cooperation of the two parliaments, and declared intention for further strengthening and deepening of the cooperation. “We are very devoted to meeting objectives and obligations envisaged by the NATO agenda as well as tasks related to the EU integration. The rule of law is a basic and fundamental goal, primarily for our state itself, and thus for the Euro-Atlantic processes”, Mr Krivokapić underlined.
The interlocutors jointly stated that the countries of the Western Balkans were facing numerous challenges in the field of media freedom, and that additional efforts were necessary for strengthening the protection of journalists and provision of the highest possible level of professionalism and independence.
During the talk, they assessed that when it comes to the NATO integration, the forthcoming period was particularly important for Montenegro, and the role of the Parliament of Montenegro in those processes was emphasised, which was particularly accentuated as the institution recognised in the region and wider for its transparency and openness towards civil society and public.
The interlocutors stated that the Bundestag would be a constructive partner to Montenegro on its Euro-Atlantic path.
