The interlocutors emphasised good bilateral relations of the two states at all levels, stressing that Montenegro and Macedonia, as two former Yugoslav republics, may serve as an example in the region as states with no open issues, with full mutual understanding and respect.
President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ranko Krivokapić assessed that the visit was important, since it provided a space for additional improvement of already good relations of the two states. “It is easy for us to understand each other since we share common past and our future is also common with countries united in the NATO and European Union. Challenges in front of us are similar - the rule of law, strengthening of democracy and institutions - and on that path we may and we should share our experiences and work together”, Mr Krivokapić pointed out during the meeting.
President of the Republic of Macedonia Mr Gjorge Ivanov acknowledged Montenegro’s reform path towards the NATO and EU membership, stating that the two states may learn a lot from mutual experiences.
Speaking on the refugee crisis, the interlocutors concluded that that problem required a collective response, and that the countries must show its humane dimension and understanding towards everybody who suffered the consequences of different persecutions and instabilities.
