President Krivokapić and Mr Jørgen Ejbøl discussed the challenges faced by the independent media in the Balkans region. During the meeting they estimated that the society as a whole must find the answers to increasingly greater and clearer abuse of media tools for the purpose of propaganda and kompromat.
The interlocutors said that the free public, responsible and professional media were the lifeblood of every democracy, and that the problems in that segment represented problems of the society which should be resolved through institutions.
During the meeting they also addressed the increasingly present problem in the ownership structures of certain private media, which usually stem from the grey areas and various interest groups which have a problem with the system of the rule of law.
