During his meeting with Mr Leyden and Mr Stroe, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ranko Krivokapić pointed out the current political situation in Montenegro. It was estimated at the meeting, just as President Krivokapić has pointed out on several occasions, that the dialogue in the Parliament was the path towards overcoming the current situation.
The co-rapporteurs welcomed the progress that Montenegro had achieved, especially with regard to promotion of legislative and oversight role of the Parliament of Montenegro.
During the meeting, they focused on the electronic identification of voters, which would be implemented in the following parliamentary elections, and it was estimated as a further step towards democratisation of the election process in the service of free and fair elections.
The interlocutors estimated that the work awaiting Montenegro was very demanding and that there were a lot of more commitments that needed to be fulfilled, all with the intention of Montenegro’s progress on the European path.
President Krivokapić concluded that the only path that Montenegro should follow was the path of the rule of law.
