“Esteemed citizens of Montenegro,

The ninth of May is a symbol of building bastions against fascism and against all devastating policies founded on unequivalence and inequality. Montenegro, Montenegrin sons and daughters have left their strong mark in fight against fascism and their lives laid down for freedom and peace must be an eternal memorial - a line which must remain a permanent anti-fascist vertical of modern Montenegro and Europe.  

Anti-fascism is in the foundations of Montenegrin statehood and its civic spirit. Today, on those foundations, Montenegro has its clear path towards the European Union, towards Europe with which we share common values - democracy, rule of law, and respect for individual freedoms.

Today, extremism and terrorism remain key challenges of our generations, and all of us together must find solutions to them in order to provide our children with permanent peace and security.

This is the day when we need to remember all our participants in the National Liberation War and their sacrifice in the anti-fascist fight and give them an eternal thank you, and commit to follow their fight for free, peaceful, and safe society.

On behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro and on my own behalf, I wish you a happy Day of Victory over Fascism and Europe Day.”
