On this occasion, Ambassador Whitting congratulated to Mr Darko Pajović on his election to the position of President of the Parliament of Montenegro. The interlocutors voiced mutual pleasure over bilateral relations of the two countries, and President Pajović thanked for the British help to Montenegro in European and NATO integration.
They emphasised at the meeting that Memorandum of Understanding between the Parliament of Montenegro and Westminster Foundation envisaged the cooperation aimed at setting up Parliamentary Budget Office in Montenegrin Parliament through the programme “Strengthening financial oversight in the Parliament of Montenegro”, which will last until 31 March 2018. Additionally, the objectives of the program, which will contribute to strengthening of good governance in Montenegro, have been agreed by this document, in particular with regard to improving the capacities of the Parliament of Montenegro for the effective performance of the role of parliamentary oversight.
The President of the Parliament informed the Ambassador of the Great Britain that the Parliament had intensified its activities and voiced expectation that the Parliament of Montenegro would work professionally and transparently by the end of July, in its full capacity.
