Today, within the official visit to the Republic of Albania, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Darko Pajović has met with Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania Mr Ilir Meta.
President of the Parliament of Montenegro thanked his hosts for friendly and honest reception, emphasising that so far he had had the opportunity to hear a lot of positive things about the Albanian exceptional hospitality, but in the past two days he had had the honour of personally experiencing it. President Pajović expressed gratitude to Albania for its continuous support in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as for rapid procedure of ratifying the NATO Accession Protocol for Montenegro, thus making it the first member state of the Alliance from our immediate neighbourhood to do so.
President Pajović informed his interlocutor on the current political situation in the country, as well as on his activities which he had managed to carry out in a very short period of time. Furthermore, when providing information on the upcoming activities, he announced that the Parliament of Montenegro will respond positively to the initiative of members of Albanian national parties - to enable MPs with Albanian nationality to use their mother tongue in the Parliament of Montenegro.
Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Mr Ilir Meta congratulated President Pajović on being elected to one of the most important positions in the country and with the most responsibility, and wished him a lot of success. Furthermore, he congratulated Montenegro on the progress is was achieving in the field of European and NATO integration. Mr Meta expressed special pleasure over the fact that Albania would ratify the NATO Accession Protocol for Montenegro today and thus send additional incentive to other members of the Alliance.
The interlocutors voiced their pleasure over excellent neighbouring relations imbued with mutual assistance, trust and respect, and they agreed on future activities which would additionally deepen and enrich relations between Montenegro and Albania. President Pajović extended an invitation to Speaker Meta to visit Montenegro, and they also agreed on intensifying cooperation of the committees on international relations of the two parliaments, especially in the field of the EU accession, where Montenegrin experiences could be greatly significant to Albania which hopes for prompt opening of negotiations.
In addition to President Pajović, Montenegrin delegation included Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Miodrag Vuković.
