President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Darko Pajović today has received representatives of non-governmental organisations at first consultative meeting. The aim of the meeting is improving cooperation between the Parliament and NGO sector.
President Pajović emphasised that non-governmental organisations are important corrective element of every democratic society and that the Parliament appreciated the cooperation with them.
- Bearing in mind that on 2 June of this year I have assumed the duty of the President of the Parliament and that for many years I was an activist in non-governmental sector, I wanted to meet you and see how to improve our cooperation, the President of the Parliament pointed out at today’s meeting.
He added that he would make efforts to fulfil their requests, in line with the legislation. Mr Pajović offered signing of a new agreement of understanding of the civil sector and the Parliament, given that the previous Memorandum, signed with the Network of Civil Society Organizations for Democracy and Human Rights, had been inactive.
Representatives of non-governmental organisations, who attended this meeting, supported the proposal of the President of Parliament for renewing the cooperation of this institution and NGO sector which would be formalised by signing of a new memorandum.
The Memorandum will ensure institutionalised and organised participation of the NGO sector in the work of the Parliament and its working bodies, whereby non-governmental organisation would have a specific influence on its work and bringing of decisions, and the cooperation would be of better quality as well.
