During his stay in Tbilisi, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Darko Pajović was officially received by President of Georgia Mr Giorgi Margvelashvili.
President Pajović thanked Georgia on messages of support following the invitation and signing of the NATO Accession Protocol for Montenegro, and informed his interlocutor on the current ratification process, where six countries had already completed this process. He has also emphasised his conviction that Montenegro’s accession to NATO will be a clear message to other aspirant countries as well - that NATO doors are open to everyone who implements reforms necessary for membership and contributes to the security of the Alliance.
Georgian President Mr Margvelashvili expressed pleasure over the opportunity to talk with Montenegrin President of the Parliament, in this key moment for Euro-Atlantic integration for both countries, awaiting the NATO Summit in Warsaw.
The interlocutors agreed that this was the moment for both countries to demonstrate their democratic maturity in providing conditions for fair and free elections, and especially in strengthening the rule of law, professionalism of judiciary and prosecution.
President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Darko Pajović also met with Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Mikheil Janelidze. The interlocutors pointed out that European and Euro-Atlantic integration had no alternative, and that both countries with their clear policy in the previous years had decisively shown that they want to belong to the West and to foster its values.
