After the meeting, Mr Pajović said:
Area of the Saltworks “Bajo Sekulić” should be internationally protected and I think that continuation of coopetition between the Saltworks and National Parks is a good move in that direction. The Saltworks is the example how much the Parliament of Montenegro needed the adoption of the set of laws in the field of environment protection, but also laws related to efficient work of the local self-governments.
Among those, I would like to stress insistence on the Law on National Parks as well as the Law on Legalization of Informal Structures, which excludes any kind of legalisation or construction within the National Parks. In this way, we have created basis for the preparation of documentation for the protection of biodiversity of the Saltworks and all natural values, first on national and then on international level. I strongly support the area of the Saltworks as the nature park, because that is economic, ecologic and also the issue of international political relations. Primarily, he said that it was a civilizational issue.
The Saltworks is a big economic resource, tourist potential, due to the fact that visiting the protected natural resource is a growing branch of tourism worldwide, not to mention the potential of the salt production, where we have significant experiences of the local citizens. Therefore, a good plan, joint action and responsible behaviour will create new jobs, the President of Montenegrin Parliament said.
Hosts of the meeting, the President of the Municipality of Ulcinj and the President of the Local Assembly expressed satisfaction over the visit of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro and constructive meeting at which they discussed the possibilities for stronger cooperation between state and local institutions.
