Fair and free election environment is the interest of the citizens and the state of Montenegro

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Darko Pajović today received OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission in Montenegro, led by Mr Roman Jakič, Head of the Mission.

During the meeting, they talked about election process, conditions for carrying out the election campaign as well as the role of the Mission in Montenegro. The President of the Montenegrin Parliament informed guests about facts which have made institutional conditions for holding the elections significantly better when comared to previous election cycle.  

On the basis of Political agreement on free and fair elections of January of this year, the Parliament of Montenegro, led since then by Mr Pajović, has established the committee on monitoring the election process, committee on monitoring the work of the media and committee on monitoring the investigations of attacks against journalists, and by activities of these committees the Parliament has contributed to creating not ideal but significantly better election conditions. Mr Pajović particularly emphasised the imperative of holding free and fair elections for the continuation of NATO and European integration processes of Montenegro.  

The interlocutors agreed that transparency of the election process was the interest of both - citizens of Montenegro and institutions of the state of Montenegro.
